Even More Memories from the Gasthaus 4/21/2026

$70.00
sold out

Tuesday, April 21st ● 6:30 - 9:00 pm ● “Even More Memories from the Gasthaus” ● Demonstration Class ● Nina Greipel and Annemarie Greipel — Gasthaus German Restaurant ● $70.00

A Louisville staple for nearly three decades this family owned restaurant became more than a local favorite — it became a cherished tradition - a hidden gem where authentic German flavors met the spirit of Gemütlichkeit. Founded in 1993 by Annemarie and Michael Greipel, the community’s hearts broke when the time for retirement arrived, and the doors closed. There were so many requests for the family’s recipes, Nina Greipel, daughter of the founders, wrote a family cookbook where the Gasthaus spirit has been kept alive. Nina will have her family’s cookbook available for sale after class and will be happy to autograph it for you. Our 10% discount does not apply to this purchase.

Menu: Potato Pancakes ~ are a great appetizer or can be served as a side. They are also called "Reibekuchen" in Germany and are simple to make at home. They taste best freshly made with Applesauce and Sour Cream ● Sauerbraten ~ often considered Germany's national dish, varies by region. The name translates to “sour roast” and refers to the unique preparation of the meat - typically beef, marinated for several days in red wine vinegar and Old World spices, before being slow-cooked to perfection. At the Gasthaus, we used beef eye of round, but try a thick, marbled beef chuck for your home cooking. Sauerbraten pairs well with Dumplings, Red Cabbage, or Spätzle Red Cabbage ~ is a classic dish in German cuisine with many variations in recipes. It is also sometimes called purple cabbage, and in Germany, it’s called red or blue cabbage. But no matter what you call it, it’s low in calories and high in nutrients such as vitamin C, B6, fiber, and antioxidants Lemon Roll ~ is a delightfully light and soft dessert, with tangy lemon flavor and light whipped cream. The light and spongy cake is covered with lemon curd, whipped cream, and rolled into a perfect log, then decorated with whipped cream.

*Two glasses of wine are included in the price of each seat. No BYOB.
